The National Museum of Australia engaged Artikel Design to assist in the development of a new trial wayfinding system for the permanent galleries. The NMA has undergone significant changes within the galleries over the last few years, so this was an opportunity to update the current wayfinding to help visitors navigate the permanent galleries within the museum.

As a part of this project, Nick worked closely with the NMA team in auditing the existing system, gaining user insights and possible opportunities to improve user experience.

Nick developed a new wayfinding system that enables a user-centric approach for better navigation cues throughout the various spaces—using a more structured hierarchy, utilising his knowledge in Interface design systems to simplify and structure the navigational cues through the built environment. The museum will test the new temporary wayfinding system with users as part of a trial in the coming months.
