Brief

The National Museum of Australia engaged Artikel Design to assist in the design development and finalisation phases of the light/watercolour installation within the Great Southern Land exhibition. The vivid artwork called the 'Heartbeat' combines the watercolour works of Australian Artist Matt Chun with the unique style of Carnovsky's RGB. This work experiments with the interaction between printed and light colours. The resulting images are unexpected and disorienting.

The work is displayed on five separate curved fans enclosing the circular space. Each fan highlights the five zones within Australia's environments of Arid, Alpine, Tropical, and Temperate Land and Sea.

Nick Collaborated closely with Matt and the NMA project team in the artwork preparation of the 15 scenes, assisting in tailoring the technique to ensure the best visual representation while not compromising the original watercolour works. Nick worked closely with the team of suppliers in the transition from design phases into final production.
